Baby Shower projects

So today I did the cake for the baby shower tomorrow for the two ladies at church. I have been wanting to do this baby bassinet cake that I saw when I was taking the cake decorating courses. It requires the basket weave technique and is so totally cute. Well I went to make the cake this morning and discovered I don't have the right size cake pan. I have all the other sizes, but not the one I needed. So I had to improvise. Here is what I came up with. I am mostly pleased with how it turned out.

I also got to make the gifts for the mommy's to be. I found some frames at the store that allow you to put two 4x6 photos in it. I used some gingham print printed paper that I have had for a while. Printed the saying on my computer, colored it in using the Soft Subtles markers, mounted it on coordinating cardstock and then added some flowers and a brad to each one. I figure the ladies can put a picture of their little one on the bottom part of the frame, or they can put the baby's hand prints or foot prints. I hope they like them. I don't really know either of them that well so I didn't want to go all out, but I didn't want to show up empty handed. I hope they like them.

Evening of Stamping

I know it's been a while since I blogged last, so I thought I would share with you my evening of stamping last night. Yesterday DH and DD went to World's Of Fun (amusement park in Kansas City). I didn't go because there was a total of 1 ride I am able to go on because of my back. So Instead I stayed home and lounged all day. I decided to spend the evening stamping and here is what I have to show for it.

One of the downers of living the military life is friends moving away after you get to know them so well. A few years ago I was surfing on Splitcoast and I came across a post from someone who lives here on Ft. Riley. I PM'ed her to say hi. Turns out she had just moved from the street I lived on at the time. Small world huh? Well she moved to a different neighborhood but still on Ft. Riley. We became fast friends. Well she is one of my many friends moving this summer. So I wanted to make her a going away gift to remember me by. I used the SU set Time Well Spent and the rubons from Sell-A-Brations along with some silk flowers. Mounted in a black frame. I love how this turned out. She loved it too.

I did the card in my favorite colors because I thought it would make her smile. The card is stamped on a pre-scored card from TAC. The ribbon is from HL and I put stickles on the center of the flower. I like to brush the stickles on with a paint brush. Gives it a more subtle look.
There are a couple of ladies in my church who are having babies. I was asked to make the cake for their double baby shower on Saturday. Here are the cards I made for them. I haven't done the gifts yet, but as soon as I do I will post pics for you. I'll post pics of the cake when I get that done too. I paper pieced both cards. Both cards were done with the TAC preggers set (don't remember the name though, How Swell maybe?). Layouts on both cards were inspired by cards in the current (soon to be retired) SU catty.

One of the ladies is having a boy so I used Almost Amythest and Black for hers. I also used my cuttlebug and my new Birds and Swirls Embossing folder. I dusted it with dew drop chalks to make the embossing stand out.

And the other lady is having a girl so I used what I thought was an odd combo, but I love the end result. I used the retired DP pack of Spring Flowers (I think that's what it's called) to do the paper piecing for her top. The pink color and yellow color on the paper closely matched Groovy Guava and Barely Banana, so I decided that those would be my starting colors. I wanted a color to make the guava panel pop so I went to my Printed paper again and chose the Not Quite Navy (that and that was the color I chose for the lady's pants. I paper peirced around the navy piece, added some ribbon, and there you have it.
I also stamped some book marks but I never took pics of those. I will see if I can do that. DD wanted me to make her a book mark with an owl and using Slytherin colors. LOL So I did. It turned out cute. I will try to get pics of them all.

Stamping Projects!

As promised... here are some stamping projects that I have done recently. *grin*

I made this card for a lady who has been heading up a swap group I am in for the last year. I sent it to her along with some altered pop-top cans I did (they were filled with candy) and some other goodies. She loves Bella's so I used PMS-a-Bella from Stampingbella.com. I only have two bella's so far and the other one is Chef-a-Bella. Chef-a-Bella is holding a pie and a turkey, so that wouldn't work at all. So I used PMS-a-Bella. Her PJ's were done by paper pieceing using some printed paper that I have. The hello is from a Michael's $1 stamp set that I was given a while back.

these are the pop-top cans I did for her. They had been cans with fruit in them. I opened them on the bottom using my PC smooth edge can opener and then rinsed out the cans (after eating the fruit of course). Then I covered them using coordinating paper (matched the card I did), added some CS to the top with some ribbon on the pull tabs. Filled them with candy and then reattached the bottoms to the cans using sticky strip from SU. This card was done using sets from Artful Inkables. I used a couple of different sets for this one. The flower and fairy are from Fairy Whimsey and the cloud is from Darling Dragons. The inside is stamped with "May your birthday be Enchanted" from Enchanted Fairies. Have I told you lately how much I LOVE Kristin's sets! I decided to use stickles on the wings and a glitter pen around the images to add to the dreamy feel.

This last one that I have for you today was done using my one and only Stampendous stamp. For my birthday someone sent me this stamp. I love it! It is called Snail Fluffles. I should get some more Fluffles stamps. Anyhow, I needed make a card for a sweet friend and decided that it had been a while since I had done a no layer card. I added some ribbon at the top and there you have it!

I hope you like today's projects. I will try to post some more soon. My DD is coming tomorrow for the summer and she loves to stamp. Or at least she did last time I talked to her two days ago. She is a teenager though so you know how moods and tastes can change at that age. *snort* But hopefully she will still like to stamp and she and I can make some projects. Oh, and, DH's leave starts next week too. YAY!! What a fun summer this will be! *grin*

Confusion

O.k. there has been some confusion among my subscribers. Normally you receive an email saying that My Own Little Stamping World has done a blog post. Well with the last post it came through as Crown's Creations. I didn't realize that changing the title header on my blog would change your emails. Sorry for the confusion I caused anyone.
I decided to change the blog header because I don't always post about stamping anymore. I post stamping, cake making, and as you can see from my last post, sometimes some personal stuff as well. So I figured summing it up by saying Crown's Creations would be good. You can still find my blog at the same web address (obviously) but the blog name will be different now. I will still try to post lots and lots of stamped creations though so for those of you who read my blog for that reason, have no fear. *wink* I just figure it is better to do it all in one blog rather then trying to maintain several different ones. Make sense? Hope so. *grin*
